Global Inclusion Online Forum (GIOF) and Diversity Atlas have completed a comprehensive research project examining the current state of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) industry, revealing several crucial insights about the field’s challenges and dynamics.
The groundbreaking study, now available for free download, provides critical perspectives on the industry's structure and effectiveness, while highlighting both challenges and opportunities within the DEI sector.
Key findings from the report include:

The research reveals a significant over-representation of marginalized groups within the DEI community, presenting a unique dynamic in the industry's composition and approach to change management. The report also suggests that this over-representation may be one of the reasons of the ongoing global DEI “backlash.”

A crucial insight from the study shows that marginalization experiences tend to become defining characteristics for individuals, significantly impacting how DEI work is approached and implemented across organizations.

The report also highlights that despite ongoing backlash against DEI initiatives, there remains strong support from staff and stakeholders across organizations. However, researchers found considerable variation in how DEI work is defined and implemented across different institutions.
