The biggest challenges that companies face is the lack of the inclusive data as well as understanding the overall concept of diversity and how it can improve business performance and workforce satisfaction at the same time. Is the meaning of diversity the same across different communities?

By not placing importance on understanding diversity, companies will continue to create division amongst their staff, which has been proven to create more conflict within the workplace. The more conflict, the more companies will have to invest in mitigating it. Such consequences could include misrepresentation, discrimination, and hostility within the workplace.

This talk will discuss and analyze how people from different countries and cultural backgrounds see cultural diversity differently. The optimal model for quantifying Cultural Diversity can be identified in the four discrete categories of Ethnicity, Countries of birth, Languages and worldviews within a community. The research shows how different nations look at the importance of each pillar with an intersectional analysis, we showed how gender, age or education level impact this definition of cultural identity.

Via a framework for understanding culture through a data driven approach, the research contributes to the promotion of intercultural understanding, with the aim of fostering respect, mutual understanding and empathy for others.
