When starting on the Diversity & Inclusion agenda most leaders feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of the agenda. They may have a real desire to move forward, but where to start? How to know what will benefit the business and inclusion most?

Asking staff isn’t always helpful. Often there is great passion with people in the organisation, and an overwhelming number of ideas are put forward. It’s up to the business leader to give direction and support to the right initiatives. It’s up to the business leader to talk about D&I, role model behaviour and give a clear message. That requires educating yourself and knowing where you want to take the business on D&I.

This session will help you create a D&I mission, vision, strategy and plan that gives you and your leadership team focus, helps you communicate and will be a North Star for D&I efforts to all involved.

You will learn:

  • What a good D&I vision and mission looks like and why you need one. Our expert will show you examples of organisations with a good D&I vision and mission that fits their strategic direction. You will learn why a clear vision and mission statement is so important to them. Our expert will show you how it helps them achieve their D&I aims and guides their leaders.

  • Which steps to take to create your D&I mission and vision. Our expert shows you exactly which steps you need to take to get to your mission and vision. You will then work in break out groups to draft your own.

  • How to set an objective for your D&I efforts. Jointly with our expert you will look at business benefits of D&I and review best practice example. This will help you decide what applies most to your vision and context.

  • Which data to gather to identify where you are. To understand where you are you need to look at quantitative diversity data per underrepresented group. But that is not enough. You will also need to gather qualitative data on engagement and gather stories to understand what’s behind those numbers. Our expert will give you high level guidance on what data you need, so you can task your team to gather the right data.

  • How to use the data and prioritise to set objectives, strategic priorities and achieve your D&I ambition. Once you have your data you can use it to see where the gap is between your ambition and reality. That will help you decide on strategic priorities for your D&I initiatives. You will see how best to apply this in your organisation.
